Kristi Mendez, EA, has joined Steele Martin Jones as Senior Tax Manager.
She has a bachelor’s degree from University of Tennessee at Martin in business administration with an emphasis in finance and accounting.
Kristi is an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. The IRS describes an Enrolled Agent as “a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service by either passing a three-part comprehensive IRS test covering individual and business tax returns, or through experience as a former IRS employee. Enrolled Agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards.”
For about 10 years, Kristi commuted to Memphis where she was a Senior Track Associate at Jackson Howell & Associates. She specialized in doing tax accounting for individuals and small businesses.
She wanted to work closer to home, but was picky about where she wanted to work in Jackson. She wanted a firm that offered a good work-life balance where she could put her family first and still have a career. She was attracted to Steele Martin because of its family-type environment.
“It’s a good place to work,” she said. “I’m very excited to be able to work so closely with small businesses and clients and make a difference.”
Kristi grew up in McKenzie and graduated from McKenzie High School. She and her husband, Chris, have two children: Christopher and Kinsley. They live in Jackson.
